Sevilla director of football Monchi cools talk for Chelsea fullback Alonso

Sevilla director of football Monchi says he is not interested in signing Marcos Alonso for the club.

The Spanish side need a new left back, as they have let Sergio Reguilon return to Real Madrid after the completion of his loan.

Monchi says Alonso is not an option, while he also played down their chances of securing Reguilon permanently.

The latter is being linked to Manchester United.

Monchi said: "Regarding the issue of Reguilon, I already said it, we would love to have him here but it is complicated because there are very strong rivals with whom we are not in a position to fight financially.

"We are in a health and economic crisis, so we are going to put it down when it comes to talking about quantities, luckily it has caught us in a good circumstance, but the crisis also affects Sevilla FC.

"We are making the investments that we believe are appropriate to strengthen the squad."

On Alonso, he said: "Sevilla have not made any approach for Marcos Alonso."
