Sevilla coach Jose Luis Mendilibar was furious with VAR after defeat at home to Girona.

Yangel Herrera and Aleix Garcia struck for Girona, with Nemanja Gudelj on the mark for Sevilla.

Mendilibar said: “In the end I think we had options, but they were right and it cost us more. We have not known how to tie."

VAR reversed a penalty call for Sevilla which infuriated the hosts.

“What I don't understand is that a penalty that you see so clearly and that you whistle so quickly, that you then let yourself go, I don't know whether to deceive you with the images.

"The VAR is here to help, they say, so keep helping. But I don't understand how you can go back on a penalty that whistles so quickly. We haven't had any luck in that aspect and that's why we lost the game.

“When you lose the weeks they are screwed. If when you play your best game you also lose... We have improved in the game but we have not been able to win or draw."
