Sevilla coach Alonso happy with Copa win against Quintanar; delivers Ramos update

Sevilla coach Diego Alonso was pleased with their Copa del Rey win at Quintanar.

Sevilla were comfortable 3-0 winners on the day, with Rafa Mir, Youssef En-Neysri and Adria Pedrosa getting the goals.

Alonso later said: “The first thing was to advance to the round and the second was to see the development of the players. There are high points in some performances that I liked and that makes us happy.

“Keep working and you will continue to have opportunities.

“There has been great work in general. The field didn't help but they dignified the match, the rival, the Cup and our fans. We ended up passing the round.

“You always have to win but the important thing is that the team continues to build. We have to be permanently positive and help the players to do better."

On reports of an injury setback for Sergio Ramos, Alonso added: “The assessments we have are of an injury that is not long-term but we must see its evolution day by day. We don't know if he will be there before the break or for the return."
