Sevilla sports chief Monchi says he doesn't allow supporter sentiment to influence his decision making.

Monchi concedes the appointment of coach Julen Lopetegui was met with a negative response from fans, but the decision has been proved correct with Sevilla sitting comfortably inside the top four.

He said, "I am one of those who think that we should not manage a club depending on what the fans say and even less make decisions regardless of what the fans say.

"It is true that when the news of Lopetegui was leaked as a new coach, there was a majority reaction that was not be hidden and that was negative.

"That negative current only strengthened my relationship with the coach and convinced me even more."
