Clint Dempsey has withdrawn from the USA national team for Friday's friendly with Scotland.
The US take on the Scots at Hampden Park in Glasgow but will be without Seattle Sounders ace and national team skipper Dempsey who has sustained a calf strain.
Dempsey has been struggling with a number of injuries since returning to MLS from the Premier League in August and another niggling problem has reared its head just days out from the meeting with Scotland.
US boss Juergen Klinsmann is yet to bring in a replacement for the former Fulham and Tottenham attacking midfielder.
