Scotland staff eager to see Tierney return to Arsenal action

Scotland assistant coach Steven Reid is eager to see Kieran Tierney back in action for Arsenal.

Tierney has yet to feature for Scotland boss Steve Clarke since he took over and Reid revealed the manager recently met the £25million man in London for a catch-up.

Reid said: “It's good news to have the Premier League back and the players want to finish the campaign. For selfish reasons, the break has been good to get the likes of McGinn and Tierney back.

“It's a bonus that we've been able to get everyone back up to speed. The manager has been to see Kieran and I've had some contact with John.

“It's great because you want a full quota of players to pick from whenever that might be and that we have players with top clubs at that level.

“It's just about finding a way to put the best team out on the park. Kieran is such a good player that he could play in a few different positions.

“You could ask him to do a job in a position he has never played before. I'd imagine his favoured position is left-back but he has the temperament and ability to play in numerous positions.

“The manager had a meeting with him close to Kieran's home. He went down and they had a really positive chat over lunch and a coffee."
