Schneiderlin ponders Southampton departure

Morgan Schneiderlin has admitted to pondering his future at Southampton.

The French midfielder was heavily linked with a summer exit when Tottenham came in for his services but the Saints made it clear that they did not want him to join the mass St Mary's exodus.

Schneiderlin's form has been a key factor as to why Ronald Koeman's Saints currently sit second on the Premier League table this season but he admits to dreaming of playing in the Champions League which the south coast club may not be able to offer in the future if they miss out at the end of the term.

"A career passes quickly and I want to play for a big club," he said in an interview on the France Football Federation's official website.

"Today I am at Southampton. We are second in the Premier League, it is going well.

"We'll see at the end of the season what will happen if we are still in the Champions League places and I will make the choice. I will see with my club."

France international Schneiderlin arrived at Southampton from Strasbourg in 2008 and has since made more than 230 appearances for the red and whites.
