San Jose Earthquakes have ended a loan deal for Edmundo Zura just 16 days after he first joined the club.
The Ecuadorian striker arrived on loan from El Nacional in mid-August but the contract has been terminated after he failed a medical and was deemed unfit to play by Quakes medical staff.
Zura made a 20-minute cameo in the 2-0 loss to LA Galaxy on August 21 but just a week later, he was on his way out with Quakes general manager John Doyle taking the blame for bringing in an unfit player.
"It's my fault 100 percent," he said. "We've always been able to steady the ship with a few trades here and there.
"This year, we've tried to steady it, and it hasn't steadied."
