San Jose Earthquakes recruit Gjertsen targeting big improvement

Joey Gjertsen is hoping he can improve his overall game so he can be a quality player in MLS.

The San Jose Earthquakes brought the 27-year old former Vancouver Whitecaps and Montreal Impact midfielder into their playing roster last month and he is now intent on becoming a better player so he can have an influence when he steps put for his new club.

When he asked who is moulding his game on, Gjertsen cited Brazilian star Kaka as a source of inspiration.

"(Kaka) is so well-rounded in every aspect of his game," explained Gjertsen.

"I know I can be very dynamic, and I'm striving every day in practice to be as well-rounded as I can be."
