Sampaoli posts Sevilla farewell after dismissal

Former Sevilla coach Jorge Sampaoli has penned a farewell letter after his dismissal today.

The Argentine is expected to secure a payoff of €10m after Sevilla's decision.

He later declared today: "It's my turn to say goodbye to a city and to some colors that I carry in my heart.

"When they called me to come back, I thought it was a good option to close a first leg that somehow had been left open. Sevilla are the first team in my career to try a second chance. And I can certify that even if the circumstances were different, my love for this coat of arms does not break and remains enormous. I leave with my head held high, because we are in the quarter-finals of the Europa League and because we are trying so hard to move this story forward.

"Football does not always give us back with joy the insomnia that we dedicate to it. But I have no doubt that it was worth offering and putting your heart on this coat of arms.

"I would like to thank the players and all the employees of the club for having accompanied us. I have no doubt that they will achieve their goal. I want my gratitude to the fans for their support at Sánchez-Pizjuán, where we have become very strong this year.

"It's nice to play there. I wish Seville all the luck in the world and strongly embrace Sevillianism."
