Russian Premier League to kickoff season in London

Russian Premier League club FK Moscow are planning to play their opening home game of the 2008 season against champions Zenit St Petersburg in London.

"It's a great idea - first ever Russian league match to be played on foreign soil," FK Moscow president Yuri Belous was quoted as saying by the Russian media.

"Zenit have already agreed, now we only need the approval of both, the Russian Premier League and the Russian FA."

Belous said the match which is scheduled for March 22 or 23 would likely to be played at Chelsea's ground, Stamford Bridge.
