Bayern Munich's outgoing chief exec Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has taken aim at David Alaba.

Alaba has left Bayern to sign for Real Madrid after clashing over his new contract terms with the Germans midway through last season.

Rummenigge barked to Kicker: "I think that very few people in this existential crisis understand when a professional football player already earns 15 million (euros) per year and then is not satisfied with 19.5 million (euros).

"We generally have to find a balance between the base and the economic component, we must not forget the football fan just because they have not been in the arena in a year.

"Football has always had a connecting element."
