Rosenborg coach Rekdal: Norway now seeing Arsenal midfielder Odegaard as a real No10

Rosenborg coach Kjetil Rekdal feels Arsenal midfielder Martin Odegaard is improving as Norway captain.

Rekdal was impressed with Odegaard for victory over Sweden on Sunday.

"Odegaard's last international matches have been much better. This was last spring and summer (when the criticism came), after that he has come more into his own," he said on VGTV.

"It was matches he mostly had the ball far down the field - harmless. I called for assists and goals. We have high expectations of Martin, since we see him do special things at Arsenal. We saw very little of that on the national team, but he has improved over the autumn and this year.

"He is a hard-working and creative player, and it is a big plus that he is hard-working. There is no luxury player with number ten. It is important to get him on the ball in attack.

"Yes, I do not know how they have solved it, because I do not sit so close, but it is a clear change that he is more on the ball further forward on the field than he was before."
