Tottenham fullback Danny Rose admits he's come close to quitting White Hart Lane.

Rose admits he thought of leaving after the club signed Ben Davies for £10million from Swansea.

He said: "When Ben arrived I was fully ready to look elsewhere.

"I didn't have a good season last season and I spoke to the manager two weeks before pre-season and he said ;' No '. He said that I wasn't going anywhere.

"He wanted me to stay and fight and I did that. The club offered me a new contract which I may not have deserved considering the season I had just had.

"I didn't have a season like I had at Sunderland. I have to say a massive thanks to the chairman and the manager for giving me that contract. I like to think that I have repaid them with how consistent I have been this season. And I have managed to notch a few goals as well. "
