Rooney not bothered by Man Utd hook

Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney says he was not upset at being substituted for Belgian international Marouane Fellaini in the dying stages of the 3-1 win over Club Brugge on Tuesday.

Fellaini scored the United's third goal at Old Trafford to put the Red Devils in the box seat to qualify for the group stage of the Champions League.

Rooney has revealed he was not unhappy at being replaced in the 84th minute because the addition of Fellaini gave United's attack a different dimension.

"Am I bothered about being replaced? No, of course not," Rooney said.

"You want to play the games obviously, but 'Felly' [Fellaini] gives us a different style, in terms of getting the ball in the box earlier and trying to push for that goal, late doors, which has obviously paid off for us.

"I had a couple of half-chances against Bruges, with the header in the first half, and a couple I was reaching for, especially early on with the cross from Adnan [Januzaj]. I just have to keep putting myself in the right positions and hopefully one will come."
