Manchester United great Wayne Rooney admits he wants to play for as long as he can at Derby County.

Rooney is currently Derby player-coach - though won't be clear to play for the Rams until January 1.

He is happy to admit that his career has flown by.

"I always remember getting in the Everton team and Alan Stubbs saying I had to enjoy it because it goes quickly," said Rooney.

"I was 16 or 17 and just thinking: 'You're saying that because you're old'.

"But I am at that stage now and it does go quickly. It was good advice because we all play to win but also to enjoy it. Sometimes that gets lost in the game."
