Ronald Araujo: Joining Barcelona all happened very quickly

Ronald Araujo has detailed his original move to Barcelona.

The Uruguay defender admits Barca weren't the only offer on the table as he was preparing to move to Europe.

He told El paparido: "It was very crazy. This happened very quickly. At 16 I was at home and two years later at Barcelona. But I never imagined coming to a team like Barça in my life.

"I remember I was sleeping, it was seven o'clock, and my representative calls and tells me: 'you have to come to Europe'. I was happy to cross the pond. The possibility of Barcelona arose.

"I arrived in Madrid and I didn't know where I was going to play. It was very crazy. I had great anxiety. I'm in Madrid and at the hotel and I didn't know where I was going to play. He told me to take the train and come to Barcelona. It was tremendous.

"I could go to other Primera Division teams, but Barça happened. They told me that I was going to Barça B and that I was going to learn. I'm going to go to Barça... it was tremendous.

"When I arrived, I spent a year in the reserve team and they already promoted me to the first team and I made my debut and that's it... and now the Champions League."
