AS Roma are on the brink of being sold to the Friedkin Group, it is being reported.

Il Messaggero says an agreement between the two parties was found over the Christmas holidays.

The Friedkin Group are prepared to pay €780m to complete the takeover.

Roma have been owned by fellow American James Pallotta since 2012 and he is expected to stay on as a minority shareholder.

The Giallorossi currently sit fourth on the Serie A table this winter recess.
