Roma make clear that Man Utd target Strootman is going nowhere

AS Roma have made it vehemently cleat that Kevin Strootman is not for sale.

The 24-year old Dutch midfielder continues to be linked with a winter move to Manchester United to link up with former Holland boss Louis van Gaal but the Giallorossi are adamant he is going nowhere.

Strootman is recovering from a knee injury which kept him out of the 2014 World Cup but is close to a return and Roma general manager Mauro Baldissoni insists the capital club are eagerly anticipating his comeback amidst the ongoing transfer speculation.

"We can't wait until Kevin is back on the pitch," he told Sky Italia.

"We miss him a lot, but he is getting closer to his return. We are proud that Kevin is part of our squad and he is not for sale."

Roma president James Pallotta: "There has been non-stop reporting in UK newspapers about Kevin Strootman and Manchester United.

"Kevin Strootman is not for sale and has never been discussed in that vein at Roma. They are wasting paper.

"We consider Kevin an integral, highly valued partner in our long-term plans."
