REVEALED: When Sandro Tonali will again play for Newcastle

Newcastle United and Sandro Tonali have clarity for when he can return to play after his ten month ban.

Tonali has been banned for ten months due to making illegal bets while an AC Milan player.

With next season starting the weekend of 17 August 2024, it means Tonali won't be available for selection until matchday three.

Confirming Tonali's ban, Newcastle announced: "On the evening of Friday, 27th October, Newcastle United received confirmation that FIFA has endorsed FIGC's sanction to be applied worldwide, meaning Sandro will be eligible to return to competitive football from Tuesday, 27th August 2024."

Meanwhile, the Premier League stated over the weekend: "The Premier League 2024/25 season dates have been confirmed with the season starting on 17 August 2024.

"The final match round of the campaign will be played on 25 May 2025, when all games will kick off simultaneously as usual.

"In keeping with previous commitments made to clubs to address the congested schedule across Christmas and New Year, arrangements will be made to allow more rest time over three of the festive match rounds, with no club playing within 60 hours of another match."
