Manchester United view Bayern Munich winger Kingley Coman strictly as a backup market option.
The Manchester Evening News says United are still prioritising a move for Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho amid reports they have planned a move for Coman.
Reports on Saturday claim United want Coman, 24, if they fail to secure the signing of Sancho from Borussia Dortmund, who want in excess of €100million for the England international.
United are prepared to turn to fall-back targets if they fail to qualify for the Champions League next season, which effectively scuppered a deal for Sancho last year. United turned to fall-back option Daniel James.
However, United are still intent on signing Sancho, 20, nearly three years after they attempted to prise him from Manchester City. Coman could be of consideration as a loan in the event of a Plan B should they not sign Sancho.
