Inter Milan have opened talks with Barcelona for midfielder Ivan Rakitic.
Gazzetta dello Sport says an approach has been made this week, with Inter directors Piero Ausilio and Beppe Marotta both driving the deal.
A first offer has already been tabled worth €35m - though falls €10m short of Barca's valuation.
Barca are prepared to sacrifice Rakitic in order to make room for Frenkie de Jong, who will arrive this summer from Ajax.
The Croatia midfielder knows his days with Barca are numbered after seeing new contract talks dry up since the New Year.
