REVEALED: Bamogo - the key man to Everton landing Nkounkou

Everton's French scout has been key to their swoop for Olympique Marseille defender Niels Nkounkou.

The teen is joining Everton in a Bosman deal after turning down a new contract offer from OM.

Nkounkou's agent Yvens Le Mee revealed this week that a call from Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti had a big influence on his decision.

However, La Provence reports Habib Bomogo also had a major say in the deal, initially alerting Everton to Nkounkou's situation in his role as French scout.

Bamogo, a former Marseille striker, detailed his role with Evertonearlier this year: "I'm mainly in France. I'm working my schedule, I'm going to see the matches. Among young players, I think it's a bit different than when you recruit from the pros.

"There, it's up to you to discover them. Some, they are at an age where you do not know what they will become in 2-3 years so you have to try to detect the qualities and the things that you can develop, it is especially like that."
