Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane has welcomed the arrival of Rafa Benitez.

Benitez was named new coach of Real last week.

Varane said, "He's a great coach with a wealth of experience. I haven't met him yet, but I think that his management style and work ethic can bring a lot to the team."

Varane looked back over his last year at Real Madrid, which was a real season of two halves.

"It's hard to talk about a difficult season. It wasn't a good year because we didn't win a single trophy. We have to look forward now and focus on what's next."
