Rangers great Barry Ferguson admits he's excited by what he's seen from Chelsea teen Billy Gilmour.

Scottish midfielder Gilmour was superb for the Carabao Cup win over Grimsby in midweek.

Ferguson told the Daily Record: "There's something special about Billy Gilmour. Something very different from the rest. I'm really convinced that this guy will go all the way to the top.

"I'm excited for him. I'm happy for his family. But most of all, I am excited for Scottish football because I truly believe that we will build our national team around this guy for many, many years. To put it simply, we have not produced a player like this in decades."
