Rangers Broadfoot targets European challenge

Right-back Broadfoot featured prominently in Rangers' run to the UEFA Cup final last season, after Scotland international Alan Hutton left Ibrox to join Tottenham in a £9million deal.

This time the former St Mirren player will hope to be Walter Smith's first choice on the right side of defence after losing his place for the final two games of last season.

The draw for the first two rounds of qualifying takes place on Tuesday, and Broadfoot, 23, told www.rangers.co.uk: "The Champions League qualifiers are huge games for the club and of course the players all want to be playing at that level.

"I'd love to be involved, it would be great. Obviously I need to do well in pre-season and hopefully get in the manager's plans."
