Scottish champions Rangers began their time under new manager Ally McCoist with a loss to a bunch of part-timers yesterday.
'Gers' pre-season kicked off with a 1-0 defeat at the hands of German outfit Sportfreunde Lotte, who play in the regional fourth tier of the Bundesliga.
From all reports, Rangers had few chances despite Steven Naismith's goal being disallowed for off-side and they went behind in the second half when Simon Engelmann volleyed past substitute Neil Alexander.
Rangers will now travel to second division side VfL Bochum for another pre-season friendly tomorrow.
Two other SPL clubs were in action yesterday with St Johnstone held to a 1-1 draw by Irish club Drogheda United whilst Kilmarnock and Northern Irish outfit Ballymena played out a scorelses draw.
