QPR have passed up on the option to sign permanently Newcastle United winger Wayne Routledge.
The Evening Chronicle says the return of QPR's former Plymouth Argyle ace Jamie Mackie - who suffered a horror knee injury earlier this year - means Routledge's presence is no longer a necessity under manager Neil Warnock, despite a healthy return of five goals in 20 games during their title run-in last term.
The door may still be open to a loan move once the season gets under way.
But he will return to Alan Pardew's first-team group and is available for United's friendly fixtures, which start on July 15 against Darlington at the Darlington Arena.
