West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis says the club wants to keep Saido Berahino.
The 22-year-old striker is a January target for Newcastle United who are believed to be preparing an offer of around £18million.
Berahino, who was recently heavily linked with Tottenham, missed Tuesday night's FA Cup third round replay win over Bristol City but Pulis insists his absence was due to illness and made it clear that the Midlands club are keen to maintain their working relationship with the talented forward.
"The first thing to say is that the valuation will be determined by the (Albion) chairman (Jeremy Peace)," said Pulis following the 1-0 victory at Ashton Gate.
"I was going to play Saido tonight but he's not been well.
"He's picked up a bug that (Rickie) Lambert and a few other players have had over the last few weeks, so we've given him a miss.
"But we want to keep Saido if we can."
