Pulis admits Berahino could still leave West Brom for the right price

West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Pulis says striker Saido Berahino's future will remain unclear until the transfer window closes next month.

And the Baggies chief wants an end to a transfer system that encourages speculation well after the start of a new season.

He said: "The biggest problem, the thing that has to be sorted out is the transfer window. To have a transfer window that overlaps the season is really poor.

"The transfer window should close, and then the season should start, and that stops all this nonsense for four weeks."

He said: "If the money's not right he won't go, but if somebody came in and blew you out of the water then the club would think about it.

"I don't want to lose him, if he left I don't think it would be good for his development. He's a regular here, the supporters really appreciate a good player and what he's done for the football club.

"He's integrated much more with the group now than what he had when I first came. He's a good lad and a good player, and we want to try to keep those players."
