Barcelona have blown their chance of signing Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong, it has been revealed.

De Jong is now set to commit to PSG, despite the efforts of former Barca star Marc Overmars.

Mundo Deportivo says the Ajax sports director tried several times to encourage Barca to do a deal for De Jong.

However, Barca refused to meet Overmars' valuation, particularly as it continued to increase over the months.

Instead, De Jong is now set for PSG, with the Parisians happy to meet the price whatever Ajax are demanding.
