Portsmouth fullback Glen Johnson hopes to catch the eye of new England manager Fabio Capello.
Blues boss Harry Redknapp is touting him for a recall by after helping fire Pompey into European contention.
And Johnson, 23, said: "It is always nice to hear those kind of words from your manager. I will keep doing my job and working hard for Portsmouth and if the call comes it will be fantastic.
"Playing against teams like Arsenal gives me the chance to test myself against the best players and show the new manager what I am capable of."
Johnson, who quit Chelsea in a £4million deal last summer. may have to sit out today's clash with a knee injury.
But he added: "Things have gone better than I expected. The fact we are going into a game with Arsenal confident of winning shows how far we have come."
