New Portsmouth boss Michael Appleton has overseen the loan deals of West Bromwich Albion youngsters George Thorne and Joe Mattock.
The Baggies pair have followed Appleton to Fratton Park and will remain there until January 2 and the ex-West Brom assistant is looking forward to again having them under his guidance.
"We've got plenty of experience, but I'm desperate to bring more competition for places," Appleton told Pompey's official website.
"The people I'm looking to come through the door need to be young, hungry and desperate to be successful - and want to be part of something exciting here."
