Pogba blames Juventus injury disaster on blackmail plot: When your head is not right, your body follows

Paul Pogba is confident he can still prove himself at Juventus.

A first season back with Juve after six years with Manchester United proved disastrous for Pogba. He suffered a knee injury in preseason, rejected surgery recommendations from Juve medicos and eventually missed France's World Cup campaign after failing to recover.

Pogba eventually underwent surgery, but his returned was plagued by complications from the operation. All the while, Pogba's brother Mathias Pogba was in jail in France as local police investigated a blackmail plot against Paul.

Now 30, Pogba said: "When your head is not right, your body follows. I think that the basis of all the injuries that happened to me was my head.

"The body reacted to all these problems outside football. In football, in my thoughts, I was stressed, my body was tense. I wanted so much to come back quickly, play and show people...

Considering 2022/23 the "greatest test" of his life, Pogba has not lost hope of turning the page, with his sights set on next season in Turin.

"Changing clubs, coming back here, the injuries, the extra sporting problems... After having gone through all that, this will be my biggest victory."
