Perth Glory to investigate marquee options

Perth Glory will investigate their marquee player options if star striker Mile Sterjovski is loaned out prior to the finals series.

Currently the Glory's number one man, Sterjovski is a good chance of being selected in Pim Verbeek's 23-man squad for the finals in South Africa next year but will need to be playing all the way up until the tournament.

The fact that the A-League season ends three months before the World Cup in June means that Sterjovski will need to find a club where he can continue playing throughout that time to keep his match fitness up, providing he is selected of course.

One of Sterjovski's options is joining one of the two A-League clubs involved in the Asian Champions League next season (Adelaide United or Melbourne Victory), and if he is forced to do that Glory coach Dave Mitchell will need to find an apt replacement.

"That's (the rule) got to be clear. If Mile goes, what players can we bring in?'' Mitchell told the media after yesterday's draw in Wellington. "We're already looking for players and seeing who's available.''

The Glory are currently sitting in 5th position on the A-League and are a strong chance of qualifying for the A-League final series but may be without Sterjovski if they get there.
