Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has hailed midfielder Michael Carrick.
The veteran was integral in United's 3-0 win over Tottenham on Sunday with his brilliant passing ability as well as a headed goal in the 19th minute and the assist for Marouane Fellini's ninth-minute opener prompting words of praise from his manager.
"Michael Carrick is not not my second captain for nothing," said the Dutchman.
"He is one of the best passers also, not only wide but also forward. We need midfielders who have that passing.
"When you can also score the second goal you have a big influence in the game."
