Alan Pardew has urged Danny Simpson to sign a new contract with Newcastle United.
The 24-year old has made the right-back position his own this season and Pardew hopes he can come to an agreement soon so his future at St James' Park is sorted.
"Danny is a player who has broken into a Premier League team here at Newcastle, which is a big club, and he has done very well," he said.
"We want him to secure his future here. Contract negotiations are ongoing, but my personal preference is for him to sign quickly because he has got a lot of competition in that area."
