Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew is pushing for British signings this summer.
The Journal says Pardew is interested in Jonjo Shelvey of Swansea and Tottenham's Andros Townsend, and has been pushing for Newcastle's summer reboot to have a British flavour.
United also have an interest in Sunderland's midfielder Jack Colback, who will make a decision on his future this week and may yet leave the Stadium of Light.
