Hull City have failed with a bid for Roma defender Christian Panucci.

The Daily Star Sunday says Panucci has snubbed the chance of a return to the Premier League with Hull.

Ambitious Tigers boss Phil Brown was keen to land the Italian defender, 36, on a free transfer following his release from Roma.

Brown was willing to offer the former Chelsea and Real Madrid full-back a 12-month deal - but Panucci wants to remain in Serie A.
