Confidants of Thiago Silva are adamant he will thrive in the Premier League at Chelsea.

The former PSG captain moved to Chelsea last week in a Bosman deal.

At the age of 35, questions have been raised about whether Thiago Silva can handle the rigours of the Premier League.

But a source close to the Brazilian told Telegraph: "Thiago Silva is someone who takes great care of himself and Ligue 1 is more physical than people think.

"He will have no problem in the Premier League."
