Oxford boss Appleton confident of keeping Newcastle, Hull target Kemar Roofe

Oxford United manager Michael Appleton has insisted that the Us will be able to keep hold of FA Cup hero Kemar Roofe in the current transfer window.

The 23-year-old scored a brace in the 3-2 win over Premier League club Swansea City on Sunday to take his season tally to 13 goals.

According to the reports, Roofe has generated interest from the likes of Newcastle United and Hull City but Appleton is confident he won't be leaving anytime soon.

"We are very confident [we can keep him]," said the manager of the League Two side.

"At the end of the season it may be a different scenario depending on whether we get promoted or not but if you go in that dressing room no one wants to go anywhere anyway."
