Orlando City achieve 'FillTheBowl' success

Orlando City SC have announced that they have sold 60,000 tickets for their first-ever MLS match.

The expansion club have achieved their '#FillTheBowl' target by selling out their March 8 clash with fellow newcomer New York City FC at the Citrus Bowl in downtown Orlando.

The Lions released a statement confirming that the ticket sales goal for the Week 1 fixture had been met and that less than a 1,000 season tickets remain for their inaugural MLS campaign.

"Today we demonstrate how Orlando City and the City Beautiful continue to defy expectations," said Club President and Founder Phil Rawlins.

"We're humbled by the response of our supporters, partners and community. Today we also kick off an exuberant celebration leading into our historic home opener and inaugural season. The excitement is palpable throughout the city and we're thrilled to see all our hard work come to fruition.

"Come March 8th, we will turn the broadcast purple and show the nation why we are the 'Soccer Capital of the South'."
