O'Shea admits Burnley poor for Newcastle defeat

Burnley defender Dara O'Shea admits they were poor for defeat at home to Newcastle.

The Clarets were hammered 4-1 on the day.

O'Shea said afterwards, "It was a poor day for us, not what we wanted today. I thought we started the game really brightly, caused them some problems and it was probably too easy to concede those goals. And that was the game done then which was unfortunate you know because of how well we started and how promising it was.

“Yes definitely (conceding three first-half goals), look you get punished if you make mistakes in the Premier League and if you're not there in that split second you get punished and that's unfortunate. I think that's happened a lot this season, us making mistakes and getting on the wrong end of it and probably on the other side of it not punishing teams and waiting for their mistakes.

“So, it's a tough one to take again today.

“It's hard, momentum's going their way. They're playing some nice football and catching us on the counter. I suppose that's when we need to come together and regroup. Try and get as much experience as we have in the team to show and pull us through."
