Novara have dropped their pursuit of Napoli striker Giuseppe Mascara.

The former Catania man is apparently not wanted in Piedmont.

"He is an extraordinary player, but he isn't at the top of our thoughts right now," sporting director Mauro Pederzoli told Radio CRC.

"He doesn't have the characteristics that we are looking for. What we really need at the moment is a central striker."
