Nottingham Forest boss Cooper explains Rusk hire

Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper has addressed questions about his future and coaching changes.

The Premier League minnows have added a set piece coach into the mix this week.

Cooper knows his side must stop leaking goals and will hope the move can help them against Tottenham on Friday.

On Simon Rusk coming in as set-piece coach, he told reporters: “We've been looking since the end of last season to appoint a set-piece coach and have been close with a number of people.

“Simon was always somebody we were speaking to.

“He is really highly thought of within the FA as a national coach. With the three international breaks they have this time of year, he was committed to that. If it was going to happen with him it was going to be after those international breaks, which has been the case.

“He's here now and we're delighted. It's part of the coaching plan we put in place; we made a couple of changes in the summer in terms of how we wanted to work and this was something we wanted to do but it's just taken a little bit longer than we would have liked.

“There has to be a little bit of a transitional period in how we introduce Simon and what he wants to introduce us to as well. We look forward to striving to get better, like we are with all areas.

“Set-piece coaches have become more prevalent now, especially at Premier League level. It's something I wanted to do. We look forward to implementing it now."
