Nordsjaelland coach Pedersen happy counting on Brentford winger Bidstrup

FC Nordsjaelland coach Flemming Pedersen has defended the signing of Mads Bidstrup.

Bidstrup is on-loan at FCN from Brentford, but without a permanent option.

Pedersen said told Bold, "We looked in the transfer window to get a defensive midfielder in addition to Jacob Christensen. There was nothing going on internally, so we looked for young Danish players, and we did not think it was possible with Mads Bidstrup.

"But there was an opening at Brentford, and Mads himself was more than ready for it, so we succeeded - but in the first instance unfortunately only on a loan.

Why hire a player without the opportunity to do so permanently?

"Because he is a young Danish player that we would like to have, and he would really like to be here. It's a bit like with Victor Jensen from last season, which we loaned at Ajax.

"When a player really wants to be here, he can create value with us and make our other players better. Mads has been involved from the start and has helped to increase the quality."
