Manchester United have not been approached by Wigan Athletic over Warren Joyce, reports Sky Sports.
The Latics are on the hunt for a new manager after they sacked Gary Caldwell on Wednesday following a poor start to the Championship season.
It was believed that Wigan were keen on United's U21 coach Joyce with some bookmakers making him favourite for the job at the DW Stadium.
However, the Red Devils have not been contacted regarding 51-year-old Joyce, who has won the last two Premier League U21 titles with United.
Some reports suggest that Old Trafford legend Ryan Giggs is in the frame for the Wigan job, alongside former MK Dons boss Karl Robinson.
