Nigeria chiefs unhappy with Watford striker Dennis arriving late

Nigeria chiefs are unhappy with Watford striker Emmanuel Dennis arriving late for international duty.

Dennis, 24, linked up with the national side just hours before this afternoon's deadline.

Super Eagles manager Augustine Eguavoen was fuming after not hearing from Dennis while his two Watford team-mates William Troost-Ekong and Oghenekaro Etebo arrived on time.

Nigeria's camp began on Monday ahead of their World Cup qualifying first-leg clash with Ghana this Friday in Kumasi.

Before Dennis finally arrived, an unnamed member of the coaching staff said: “We don't know where he is and it's not a nice way to make up for his acts before the Africa Cup of Nations.

“The deadline is this afternoon before the start of training. We can't even reach him.

“Eguavoen is unhappy with his absence as we have limited time to meet up with them individually, train, travel and perfect tactics for the game.

“Ekong is here so is Etebo but no word from Dennis."

Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey also arrived late, but had played games for their clubs at the weekend, unlike Dennis.

The coach added: “It's different. Dennis last played a game on the 13th of March which is nine days ago.

“He is returning to the team and he has a lot of image rebuilding to do. He should have been here. We will wait until this evening to make a decision."
