Newcastle threaten Brentford plans for Nottingham Forest winger Johnson

Newcastle United have jumped into the battle for Nottingham Forest winger Brennan Johnson.

Brentford have been pushing to sign Johnson this month.

NottinghamshireLive says Newcastle have entered the race to sign Johnson.

The 20-year-old has been in fine form this season, scoring seven goals in 28 appearances and he has subsequently been linked with a Premier League move.

The Magpies have joined Brentford in the battle to land the former Lincoln City midfielder in January, who could be available for around £20million.
