Newcastle United target Steve Bruce was not present during a recent Sheffield Wednesday friendly.

The Wednesday boss has reportedly handed in his resignation as he seeks a move to the Premier League club.

It meant that first-team coach Lee Bullen will take charge of the team for their friendly against Northampton.

Per English media sources, Newcastle have not agreed on compensation for Bruce and his staff with Sheffield Wednesday.

But it is a move that appears inevitable.
